Restored Outages: over 1,600
In the early morning of Thursday, March 20, a heavy snowstorm with strong wind caused widespread power outages across Cloverland’s EUP service territory. Most outages were in Chippewa and Mackinac counties, with scattered locations across Luce and Schoolcraft counties.
By 2:00 p.m., there were 98 outage locations across 25 townships. Cloverland crews successfully restored power to over 1,600 members, though new outages continued to occur, causing fluctuations in the numbers. The outages were primarily caused by heavy snow accumulating on tree limbs and power lines, resulting in downed lines and fallen trees. The deep snow also made navigation challenging for crews.
To support the restoration efforts, three CC Power crews arrived early in the afternoon to assist Cloverland crews.
Cloverland members are encouraged to prepare for an overnight outage if their power is not restored by 8 PM. Crews will work until safety rest is mandated at 11 p.m. Restoration efforts will resume upon the conclusion of safety rest early Friday morning.
Cloverland encourages members to report outages with the SmartHub mobile app or by calling 800-562-4953. In addition, members can follow restoration progress using the cooperative’s outage map.
During extended outage events, updates are posted on Cloverland.com and Facebook every three to four hours on a schedule. Upcoming updates: 9:30 p.m. and 8:00 a.m.
