Severe Wind Storm Summary 12 PM Dec. 16

Severe winds moving across the Midwest have caused widespread power outages across the state of Michigan. Cloverland Electric Cooperative is experiencing over 10,000 power outages across its five county service territory in the Eastern Upper Peninsula - approximately one third of its membership. All line crews across Cloverland's five divisions are working to restore power as quickly and safely as possible. Given the high volume of outages and widespread locations, restoration efforts are expected to extend overnight. Cloverland Electric advises members without power to activate medical back-up plans and make arrangements to ensure overnight safety.

Cloverland Electric reminds the public to stay clear of downed power lines and report them by calling 1-800-562-4953 or local law enforcement agencies. Cloverland encourages members with internet access or mobile data to stay tuned to www.cloverland.com and Cloverland Electric’s Facebook page for latest updates on outages and restoration efforts. Outage updates will be provided to members at 2 p.m., 6 p.m., 10 p.m. and a more detailed press release will be posted to cloverland.com and distributed to media this evening.
