I am seeking election to the Cloverland Electric Cooperative Board of Directors to help ensure affordable, reliable electricity for all member-consumers and to guide the cooperative’s long-term success. Cloverland is essential to families, farms, and businesses across the Upper Peninsula, and strong, informed governance is critical to keeping rates competitive and the electric grid resilient.
I am a lifelong Upper Peninsula resident and live on a beef cattle farm on the Garden Peninsula with my wife, Kelli, of 30 years. We have two adult daughters and two grandchildren. I am a volunteer firefighter and past fire chief, and I have a long history of community service through local and regional boards supporting agriculture, land stewardship, zoning, conservation, and youth programs. I also currently volunteer at the Upper Peninsula State Fair, where I serve as the Junior Beef Exhibitors’ Representative and on the Building and Grounds Committee.
Professionally, I serve as Director of the Schoolcraft County Transit Authority, with 17 years of executive leadership experience, and as Executive Director of the Delta Area Transit Authority in Escanaba, where I have served for 14 years. These roles involve oversight of multi-million-dollar budgets, long-term planning, regulatory compliance, and public accountability. I also serve as Vice President of the Michigan Public Transit Association, working with transit systems statewide on policy, funding, and operational best practices, and as Secretary of the Menominee–Delta–Schoolcraft Community Action Agency, which provides essential services to strengthen families and support vulnerable residents across our region.
I understand that Cloverland directors carry serious fiduciary responsibilities. I am committed to affordability, transparency, grid reliability, and ensuring large-load customers pay their fair share. I will bring steady leadership, fiscal discipline, and cooperative values to the board to keep Cloverland reliable, affordable, and accountable to the members it serves.
