Cloverland Electric Cooperative is among the 900+ electric cooperatives nationwide and one of nine within Michigan. Distinguished by our dual focus on distribution and generation, we maintain competitive rates to benefit our 34,000 residential, agricultural, and commercial members across the Eastern Upper Peninsula.

With a dedicated workforce of about 130 employees stationed in Newberry, Manistique, DeTour, St. Ignace, Mackinac Island, Dafter, and Sault Ste. Marie, we ensure a safe and reliable power supply for our membership.

The engineering department maintains and advances our cooperative’s infrastructure, ensuring efficient, reliable, and safe power delivery through skilled system engineers and technicians.

The operations team at Cloverland ensures reliable power daily, maintaining 4,000 miles of utility lines and managing vegetation, fleet, and repairs across five counties in the Eastern Upper Peninsula.

The generation team ensures reliable, sustainable power by operating our hydroelectric and diesel plants, generating 30% of our energy with skilled precision and care.

The human resources department supports our employees by recruiting top talent, managing benefits, fostering inclusion, ensuring compliance, and offering career development opportunities.

The safety department ensures health and well-being by overseeing safety protocols, training, inspections, and fostering a safety-focused culture across all operations.

The communications team manages internal and external messaging, media relations, and outreach to keep employees engaged, inform member-owners, and strengthen trust with all stakeholders.

The member services team enhances member experience by providing exceptional support, managing billing, accounts, outages, and helping members make informed energy decisions.

The IT team ensures reliable, secure technology infrastructure, maintaining cybersecurity and optimizing digital tools to support smooth operations and exceptional service delivery.

The finance and accounting team ensures the cooperative’s financial health by managing resources, providing insights for informed decisions, and supporting long-term goals.


Recruitment Process

Review

Each candidate’s application is carefully reviewed by the hiring manager and interview panel.

Interview

We conduct interviews which help to ensure there is a mutual understanding of the position, our team, and our culture. Field exercises may be conducted as part of the interview process.

Assessment

Finalists undergo a pre-employment aptitude assessment, a background check, degree, and credentials verification.

Offer

An offer is extended to the candidate.

Post-offer Pre-Employment Physical and Drug Testing

Upon acceptance and prior to starting each candidate will receive an occupational health physical and drug test. All employment offers are contingent upon the results of the physical and drug screen.

After selecting a position, you will have the opportunity to upload your resume, cover letter, and any other supporting documentation you feel will help the interview panel assess your qualifications.

4. Complete Job Questions:

You will also be asked a series of job questions that may be related to your work experience, educational background, or skill set.

5. Invitation to Complete Full Application:

If your resume and responses meet our criteria, Human Resources may invite you to complete a full employment application.
