Spring Wind Storm Causes Outages Across EUP

Storm summary: Cloverland Electric crews restored 8,975 wind-storm-related power outages on Friday, April 12 across Chippewa, Mackinac, Luce and Schoolcraft counties. With enduring winds throughout the day, outages fluctuated and reached a high of 2,400 mid-day. At 6 PM, Cloverland members were encouraged to prepare for an overnight outage if their power was not restored by 8 PM. By 9 PM, crews reduced the outage count to 623 across 16 townships. Strong winds more than 40 mph caused many downed lines and trees on power lines. Crews work until safety rest is mandated. Final restoration efforts will resume Saturday morning.

Cloverland encourages members to report outages with the SmartHub mobile app or by calling 800-562-4953. In addition, members can follow restoration progress using the cooperative’s outage map.

During extended outage events, updates are posted on Cloverland.com and Facebook on a schedule: 10 AM, 2 PM, 6 PM and 9 PM (times may fluctuate based on information available and storm conditions).
