Transfer Switch Policy 2023

Cloverland’s mission is focused on safe delivery of reliable and affordable energy solutions that encourage growth, foster innovation and strengthen the communities served. Cloverland’s responsibility to members is to reliably control, secure and supply quality electrical energy from the service point to the members service entrance cable (overhead lines) or meter box (underground lines).

For safety of line crews and security of the co-op’s infrastructure – Cloverland has determined no device shall be placed between the meter and meter socket. Transfer switches for generation interconnects are traditionally placed between the member’s meter box/base and the member’s electric service panel. Recently marketed devices that serve as a transfer switch/interconnect between meter and meter base are a new approach that Cloverland does not support.

If transfer switch technology and designs advance to integrate a transfer switch into the meter socket, or any similar design not interfering between the Cloverland meter and power source, the cooperative will re-consider such equipment for use on its system.
